Potomac State College, part of the West Virginia University system of campuses, is seeking applications for a Residence Life Specialist. This position is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of one or more residence halls, as well as supervising a staff of 7-12 paraprofessionals and 2-4 housekeeping staff members. It is an 11-month, live-in position.
In order to be successful in this position, the ideal candidate will:
Provide guidance for the emotional, intellectual, physical, occupational and social development of students and staff, including responding to a variety of campus and individual student emergencies.
Work on developing a program model for the residence hall that contributes to the mission and goals of Potomac State College, with a focus on customer service towards students.
Provide leadership and training to resident assistants.
Direct housekeeper actions to ensure efficient work flow and excellent responsiveness to student needs.
Be on call 24 hours a day during the academic year, with evening and weekend work required.
Work Hours: Variable
Pay Grade: 17
Master's degree in related field, such as counseling, social work, education, communications, etc.
At least two (2) years of residence hall experience working with students
Experience to demonstrate competency in the following areas:
Balancing multiple tasks simultaneously
Working with diverse populations
Balancing/managing a budget
Appropriate combination of education and experience that provides necessary skills and abilities may be considered in lieu of degree
