Provide leadership of financial planning and analysis for the Department of Public Safety (DPS). Develop, implement, communicate and enforce DPS financial policies and procedures, including management of the annual budget process for DPS. Ensure compliance with the University's fiscal and budgeting policies. Serve as primary liaison for DPS to the University's Finance and Budget offices. Prepare long-range operating and project budgets and forecasts, analyze past income and expenditure patterns and make recommendations regarding fiscal planning for individual departments and the unit. Create and implement internal financial control systems to enhance analytical and forecasting tools for fiscal services. Serve as DPS Space Steward. Provide financial analysis and support for major University initiatives. Serve on, and lead continuous improvement initiatives as directed by the VP of Global Campus Safety.
Required Education: Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting or related field.
Preferred Education: MBA in Accounting or Finance or CPA.
Required Experience: At least 7 years' experience in financial management, financial analysis, budget management, and fiscal strategic planning.
Preferred Experience: Related finance, budgeting or accounting experience in Not-for Profit and/or institution of higher education.
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Strong analytical, organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills (both written & verbal). Working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles. Ability to work well under pressure to meet deadlines and lead others by example. Advanced expertise in Excel. Strong understanding and practice of project management, financial planning and analysis.
Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Strong presentation skills, familiarity with PeopleSoft table structures, Microsoft Office, OBIEE, and Hyperion.
