Associate's Degree or High School Diploma with at least one year of experience required. CVT or licensure eligible. Basic computer skills; strong math skills. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. with or without accommodation.
5 or more years' experience in a busy, fast paced veterinary hospital. Current CVT license preferred. Should possess the ability to handle a high caseload and stressful situations in a professional manner. Following direction and prioritizing the workload is a necessity. Should have an excellent understanding of medical terminology and familiarity with veterinary pharmacology. Prior experience with an emphasis in Anesthesia preferred. Technical abilities should include: patient restraint, good venipuncture skills, good working knowledge and skill in anesthesia, knowledge of medicating, monitoring and treating a variety of patients. Excellent interpersonal skills in relating to co-workers, clinicians, students, staff and clients. Prior leadership role is desirable. Able to work well independently as well as part of a team. Highly motivated, enthusiastic self-starter with a professional attitude. Ability to work in a busy, stressful environment with diverse personalities while maintaining a calm, professional demeanor. Flexibility with work schedule is a must.
Special Work Schedule Requirements:
The schedule for this position may include a weekend or evening shift as well as providing University and calendar holiday coverage on a rotating basis. Participation in the on-call schedule is expected. The schedule for this position requires flexibility to insure that adequate patient care is provided without interruption or exception. This position is considered essential and is therefore required to report to work as scheduled during emergency closings on a rotating basis.
