The English Department in the Eberly College of Arts and Sciences is seeking applications for the position of Program Assistant II. This position provides administrative support to various areas of the English Department, including faculty, staff and students.
In order to be successful in this position, the ideal candidate will:
Serve as administrative support for the advisors of Undergraduate Studies and the Undergraduate Writing Program, including record keeping, mail distribution and filing.
Assist with student advising, including scheduling appointments, developing a checklist for students, and sending transcripts to the Office of Admissions.
Provide information to students regarding transcripts, registrar paperwork, and writing resources.
Manage, compose, write and edit content for English department's website and related social media (i.e. Facebook, Twitter, and English Dept. Blog).
Work with faculty members to use social media as a channel for publicity and outreach.
Collaborate with other WVU departments for events, projects, etc.
Assist with developing and implementing the academic course schedule.
Serve as the primary backup to the Administrative Assistant.
Pay Grade: 13
Associates degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
At least one (1) year of experience with complex administrative support duties
Computer software experience
Web design/web content experience preferred
Ability to initiate and work independently, and make decisions that involve routine and non-routine situations within established protocol, guidelines and policies
