The Assistant Director of Visitor Relations and Special Events plays a critical role in the recruitment strategy for the Office of Undergraduate Admissions. The person in this position is responsible for helping to manage NYU's extensive Admissions Ambassador program comprising of 175+ student staff members on our Washington Square campus, as well as a cohort of students on our campuses in Abu Dhabi and Shanghai. In addition, the Assistant Director helps to oversee our NYU visitor center locations (2 physical spaces in Manhattan and one in Brooklyn) where we welcome over 100,000 prospective students annually. The person in this position will work in conjunction with the Marketing and Visitor Relations team to enhance the overall visitor experience. They will also take a key role creating a strong partnership with student life leaders and groups across the University in order to plan and execute annual on- and off-campus special events for prospective students, families, community-based organizations, college counselors, and alumni volunteers.
Required Education: Bachelor's degree
Preferred Education: N/A
Required Experience: 3 years of professional level experience in college/university admissions or similar environment. Must include experience with student life, events planning and management, team leading, and/or staff training/development.
Preferred Experience: 3-5 years of professional level experience in college/university admissions or similar environment. Demonstrated experience in student advising and/or event management. Experience with HTML and social media tools is preferred.
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Outstanding communication, interpersonal, writing, and public speaking skills. Counseling/mentoring skills. Ability to orchestrate high level university events. Ability to represent the Office of Undergraduate Admissions and NYU successfully and independently, and to provide leadership within a team setting.
