Job Description: The Investment Analyst reports directly to the Chief Investment Officer and is responsible for supporting the Investment Office in a broad range of activities. Accountabilities include:Responsible for accurate data entry of asset classes and position exposures. Responsible for the effective analysis of the portfolio and identification of market trends. Ensures data accuracy in all reports and analysis. Responsible for creation and monitoring of implementation model for private equity portfolio, ensuring optimal cash flow. Responsible for accurate and timely preparation of investment committee (and subcommittee) meetings. Responsible for effective reporting and analysis of securities and vehicles options as assigned. Responsible for upholding the highest standards in personal accountability in representing the University. Essential Functions: Individuals will be expected to master the following technical competencies:Investment Theory: Demonstrated ability to learn basic investment theory including concepts of risk, return, correlation, liquidity and portfolio effects. Demonstrated analytical ability sufficient to enroll and succeed within the CFA program.Endowment Portfolio Management: Demonstrated ability to learn the implications of the endowment relative to institutional operating requirements. Demonstrated ability to learn and apply concepts of cash flow, endowment restrictions and applicable accounting rules.Technical Skills: Demonstrated ability to learn sophisticated techniques within key software applications including excel (e.g. pivot tables) and Bloomberg. Demonstrated ability to learn advanced features of specialized investment tools, e.g. CRM and investment analysis software. Critical Thinking Skills: Demonstrated intellectual curiosity sufficient to self-direct development of expertise in existing and potential new asset classes. Financial Accounting: Demonstrated ability to learn how to read and interpret financial statements. Demonstrated ability to learn relevant tax and gift accounting regulations regarding endowments. Qualifications: - A minimum of an Associate's degree, or a combination of education and experience from which comparable skills are acquired. - Demonstrated ability to support the management of University endowment and investment portfolio. Must have a basic understanding of how endowment operates including funds flow, custody, transfers, gifts, portfolio management.- Must possess excellent attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and sound judgement.- Familiarity with financial markets is essential. - Must have strong analytical and critical thinking skills.- An ability to assimilate abundant and complex information and summarize key points and issues is required.- Ability to handle multiple projects, prioritize, and meet deadlines essential.- Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills; ability to work in a collaborative team environment, as well as independently is required.- Must have advanced Excel skills and be proficient in Word and PowerPoint.- Must be capable of working collegially with a diverse group of faculty, staff and students on a daily basis.- Must be able to travel domestically throughout the US. - CFA encouraged and supported.
