About Northern Region Risk Manager
The Northern Illinois Region Risk Manager is responsible for the risk management initiatives and activities designed to
Identify, evaluate, and mitigate professional and general liability risk
Formulate and implement risk reduction strategies in order to minimize financial loss to the organization
Integrate risk management into the day-to-day clinical operations at the hospital, hospital outpatient department, and OSF Multi-Specialty Group - with respect to patient care, procedures, medication management, specimen labeling and tracking, informed consent, documentation, effective physician practice communication, policy education and other matters.
The risk manger proactively identifies risk and promotes effective risk controls. Actively participates in strategic, clinical and operational initiatives, and provides risk management insight with respect to design, structure and process.
Serves as a member of the hospital, hospital outpatient departments, and OSF Multi-Specialty Groups leadership teams in the region. Collaborates closely and effectively with each operational units and their leadership. Maintains a process for reporting to each operational unit leader and to Risk Management leadership all relevant risk management issues and findings, including significant events, claims, and trends.
Bachelor's degree with a preferred concentration in nursing or other health care profession or business related discipline
5 years of clinical, risk management, or health care leadership experience
A thorough understanding of health care risk management and clinical operations
The ability to conduct risk assessment and investigations and to monitor risk mitigation action plans
The ability to develop risk management educational materials and deliver training
A keen understanding of how federal and state statuses and regulations influence risk management
A demonstrated ability to work effectively with attorneys, as well as hospital and physician practice leaders, physicians, nurses, and other health care professionals
