West Virginia University Institute of Technology (WVU Tech), a location of the West Virginia University system, is currently inviting employment applications and nominations for two Food Service Lead Worker II positions. A Food Service Lead Worker II ensures the completion of production as required in a specific production area in Dining Services. This position also oversees Food Service Assistants and Food Service Workers.
In order to be successful in this position, the ideal candidate will:
Manage the food service area.
Assist Production Managers as needed on specialty items.
Determine proper food preparation through smelling, tasting, and piercing.
Make preparation adjustments as needed.
Ensure proper storage of leftover food items.
Train new food service assistants and workers.
Lead food service assistants, ensuring the completion of tasks in accordance with set policies and procedures.
Oversee the operations in the absence of a supervisor or manager.
Inform supervisor or manager of problems such as defective equipment that needs to be repaired.
Maintain a clean, sanitary workplace in accordance with county, state and federal regulations.
Work Hours: 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.; may also work weekends
Pay Grade: 11
Number of Positions Available: 2
High school diploma or GED, or any equivalent combination of education and experience
At least one (1) year of experience in a large-scale food service operation, including experience with food preparation and supervision
WV Food Handler's permit required
Sanitation training certification preferred
Physical requirements include the ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
