Knowledge of research methods demonstrated through coursework. Preferred Qualifications: Minimum six months experience conducting research involving human subjects. Knowledge of basic wet lab techniques Brief Description of Duties: Under the direct supervision of the Principal Investigators, the Research Support Specialist will perform specifically assigned research activities working with both addicted and non-addicted individuals. Conducts experimental testing of subjects during laboratory sessions, by obtaining ratings as well as biological and physiological measures at specified time-points during the sessions. Assess subjects' continued eligibility for studies by confirming self-reports of drug use and performing urine drug screens and breathalyzer samples. They will also administer clinical ratings using structured and semi-structured rating scales. Recruitment, scheduling and coordination: Facilitates subject enrollment by locating, recruiting and screening subjects from a variety of sources including detox facilities, community health centers, colleges and the general community. Responsible for the tracking, scheduling and retention of subjects during the course of the projects as well as follow-up periods. Coordinating activities of study staff: The incumbent will additionally organize work of other staff members and volunteer research assistants to complete study aims. They will arrange schedules of the team and assign tasks to volunteers. Processing of blood samples. Blood samples will be collected during the laboratory sessions and at intake in order to assess eligibility. The incumbent will assume responsibility for processing blood samples, preparing for storage in -70 freezer, and shipping. Preparation of laboratory challenge studies, clinical interviews and other project-related materials. Putting together case report forms and patient binders, labeling test tubes, setting up equipment. Supports the research program by keeping records and ordering materials, office supplies, and laboratory supplies. Ensures accurate data input and verification.
