Full time Nurse Practitioner opportunity available with Carilion Family Medicine- Giles. The NP will assist physicians and other nursing personnel in the delivery of patient care. Duties include, but are not limited to: Assess, plan and provide care. Perform patient examinations, compile appropriate patient information and documentation. Review patient reports and make appropriate recommendations, refill medications, and assist with triage of patients. Will provide care to a diverse patient population of all ages. Office hours are primarily Monday- Friday; 8am-5pm. Occasional Saturday AM acute clinic and once a week night phone call.

The Nurse Practitioner is a member of a collaborative health care team whose advanced knowledge and skills qualify her/him to function as a primary health care provider. This collaborative role includes responsibility for determining the patient's health and medical status by taking a health history, performing physical exams, initiating screening and diagnostic procedures, providing health maintenance services, and management of pregnancy, minor trauma, acute illnesses, and stable chronic illness.Consults with physician, as appropriate, keeping the physician informed of needs and problems related to patient care.
Minimum Qualifications Required:
Education: Graduate of an Accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
Licensure,certification, and/or registration: Current Virginia State Licensed Nurse Practitioner (NP) and DEA license required, or must be eligible to obtain. AHA BLS-HCP certification required. Advanced Life Support certification preferred.
Other Minimum Qualifications: Eligible for prescriptive authority in accordance with State regulations and as authorized by the Virginia Boards of Medicine. Capable of meeting credentialing or job function requirements as needed based on the requirements of the practice and of managed care payors and insurers. Qualifies for malpractice insurance and is accepted by Carilion Clinic's malpractice insurance carrier. Able to work collaboratively with physicians and other health care providers. Demonstrates good written and oral communication skills. Computer literacy required for automated computer systems, including electronic medical records.
