Review clinical documentation and diagnostic results on Ambulatory records as appropriate to extract data and apply appropriate ICD-9-CM, ICD-10 CM and CPT-4 codes for billing, internal and external reporting, research, and regulatory compliance.May assist with Outpatient Diagnostic Coding or Emergency dept. coding as needed. Coordinates resolution of discrepancies in clinical charge coding through Revenue Auditor Division of Revenue Cycle Management.Consults with physicians to improve or clarify medical record documentation for complete, accurate and compliant coding.Facility Ambulatory (Same Day) Surgery volume across the clinic is approximately 31,000 35,000annually.
Minimum Qualifications Required
Education:High School education required: college degree preferred. Medical Terminology and Physiology & Anatomy required.
Experience: Coder Ambulatory : Prior experience in ED and/or Ambulatory (Same Day) Hospital surgery preferred.
The successful internal candidate for Ambulatory Surgery will have a minimum of 1.5 to 2.0 years combined experience in Outpatient and ED Coding, with a consistent accuracy rating of 95% or better.
External Candidates must have previous Outpatient, ED experience, with prior Ambulatory Surgery experience preferred. Basic computer skills required.
Coder ED :To be considered an Coding Candidate for Hospital Billing, the applicant must have a minimum of 8 months of proven, consistent proficiency in OP Diagnostic Coding (95% accuracy).
Prior experience in ED and/or Ambulatory (Same Day) Hospital surgery preferred.
Coder PB: To be considered a PB Coding Candidate, the internal applicant must have a minimum of 8 months of proven, consistent proficiency in Professional Services Coding (96% accuracy).
The successful internal candidate will have a minimum of 1.5-2 years combined experience in Inpatient or Outpatient Radiology, ED, Orthopedic, or Specialty Coding, with a consistent accuracy rating of 96% or better.
External Candidates must have previous Professional Physician Coding experience, with prior Surgerycoding experience preferred. Basic computer skills required.
Licensure, certification, and/or registration:RHIT, RHIA, CPC,CCA, CCS, or CPC-H Required, or RN with Coding credential.
