SURGICAL TRAUMA INTENSIVE CARE UNIT (STICU) NURSES - Charleston, SC -
The Surgical Trauma Intensive Care Unit (STICU) is a 17 bed critical care department. The STICU is an interdisciplinary department, providing care to the following specialties/sub specialties: acute surgery, trauma, transplant, neuro-trauma, otolaryngology, ortho/spine trauma. Depending upon the patient's needs, the staffing ratio is 1:1 or 1:2 for critical care patients. The STICU also receives admissions for the neurosurgery and medical intensive care population. The medical and surgical care of the patient population is managed by surgical critical care intensivist. Requirements include:
*Licensure as a registered nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing or a compact state. *A minimum of one year of work experience as a registered nurse required. *Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required, either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers (or AHA recognized equivalent) or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider. *Bachelor of Nursing degree preferred. RN staff hired on or after July 1, 2013 with an Associate or Diploma degree in nursing are required to be enrolled in an accredited BSN program within two years and successfully obtain a BSN degree within four years of the RN hire or reclassification date
