This position will work with the Linen Distribution department at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital
Heavy pulling/pushing is required and applicant must be able to successfully push/pull up to 750 lbs linen carts.
Successful Candidate will walk 3 to 5 miles per day inside hospital.
The Linen Technician works closely with caregiver units and other Carilion Clinic inventory locations to efficiently distribute and service linen, linen-related laundry supplies and hamperstands. This work includes counting, restocking, rotating stock and maintaining PAR level units; cleaning, preparing and transporting linen specialty items; maintaining bulk inventories of linen and laundry items; and working closely with management to maintain the highest standards of environmental service and housekeeping quality. The individual utilizes multiple computer systems and updates/maintains computerized records as necessary. The individual will also take inventory and deliver hospital linens. The Linen Technician also support Carilion's hallmarks of service excellence and quality for all job responsibilities.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Post high school vocational or college training preferred.
Experience: Experience or familiarity with linen/laundry supply practices or procedures preferred.
Licensure, certification, and/or registration: Certified Linen Technician designation (ALM) within first (1st) year of employment preferred.
Other Minimum Qualifications: Excellent written and spoken communication skills are required. Must be able to work independently and with minimal/no supervision. Familiarity with computer keyboard and typing; ability to cope effectively with high-pressure situations and with a continually changing work environment. Must be able to speak, read, and write English. Must be able to get to work without bus service. Must be able to travel to several locations in Roanoke.
