The Cash Management Officer (“CMO) [or Associate (“CMA”), depending on experience] handles commercial cash management relationships and serves as a primary point of contact for the bank’s non-lending commercial customers. The CMO also has responsibility for selling and servicing the Bank’s merchant services and corporate credit card programs and acts as a liaison between the Bank and Elan (HPB’s current vendor for merchant/credit card services). The CMO also coordinates the setup, account maintenance, and ongoing servicing of commercial deposit accounts, internet banking, lock-box, and other non-credit products. The CMO works with members of the commercial banking division as well as personnel from other divisions of the bank to provide a broad range of financial services with excellent customer service
Bachelor’s degree, preferably in business, finance, marketing, or related fields. Prior commercial cash management experience is not required; however, previous banking experience is preferred. The ideal candidate would have a comprehensive understanding of the item processing and funds collection processes as well as the Bank’s various deposit, cash management, and related services. The CMO should also have (or develop) a thorough understanding of the commercial loan, ACH & RDC underwriting, customer overdraft, wire transfer, and any other related or relevant policies and procedures. The CMO should be personable and energetic, with a strong attention to detail and the ability to prioritize and multi-task.
The CMO will generally have at least 5 years of combined commercial banking and/or retail banking experience, with a comprehensive understanding of cash management products and services. A CMA might have 0 – 3 years of relevant commercial or retail banking experience. The successful candidate would be expected to attend continuing education courses on an ongoing basis to stay apprised of industry best practices and changes in regulations.
