Full time Physician Assistant opportunity available for the Emergency Department at Carilion Stonewall Jackson Hospital. Full time position in a 10- bed, 15,000 visit critical acess facility. JOb responsibilities in all areas of Emergency department- main and fast track. Ideal candidate will have completed post grad EM Fellowship but will consider those with 1 year of EM experience, or strong new grads with robust EM roations in School. Also will consider FM/IM with prior urgent care experience. Opportunity to work in other system EDs to increase professional develoment as well as to enhance work:life balance. Very equitable scheduling. Shifts include days, mids, overnights, weekends and holidays.

The Physician Assistant is a member of a collaborative health care team whose advanced knowledge and skills qualify her/him to function as a primary health care provider. This collaborative role includes responsibility for determining the patient's health and medical status by taking a health history, performing physical exams, initiating screening and diagnostic procedures, providing health maintenance services, and management of pregnancy, minor trauma, acute illnesses, and stable chronic illness. Consults with physician, as appropriate, keeping the physician informed of needs and problems related to patient care.
Minimum Qualifications Required:
Education:Graduate of an Accredited Physician Assistant program required.
registration: Current Virginia State Licensed Physician Assistant (PA) and DEA license required, or must be eligible to obtain. AHA BLS-HCP certification required. Advanced Life Support certification preferred.
Qualifications:Eligible for prescriptive authority in accordance with State regulations and as authorized by the Virginia Boards of Medicine. Capable of meeting credentialing or job function requirements as needed based on the requirements of the practice and of managed care payors and insurers. Qualifies for malpractice insurance and is accepted by Carilion Clinic's malpractice insurance carrier. Able to work collaboratively with physicians and other health care providers. Demonstrates good written and oral communication skills. Computer literacy required for automated computer systems, including electronic medical records.
