The Department of Community Health Sciences at Jefferson College of Health Sciences is accepting applications for a faculty member for its Emergency Services program.
Responsibilities: Supports Carilion's and Jefferson College of Health Science's hallmarks of service excellence and quality for all job responsibilities. Plans, implements and evaluates academic curriculum and assigned teaching responsibilities. Serves as academic advisor for students and participates in scholarly and service activities. Educates students in all aspects of Emergency Services. Must have the ability to teach all courses associated with the National Emergency Medical Services Education Standards.
Minimum Qualifications Required
Education: Master's degree with a minimum of 18 graduate hours in an emergency services / emergency management related field. Doctorally prepared candidates will receive preference.
Experience: Minimum five (5) years experience functioning as a field paramedic in a high volume system. Experience in teaching college level classes both in traditional classroom and distance education formats preferred.
Licenses, Certifications and/or Registrations: Certification as a Nationally Registered Paramedic with additional certifications in CPR, ACLS, PALS, PHTLS, GEMS, and AMLS with instructor credentials preferred. Critical Care Paramedic certification preferred (must be willing to obtain). Recognition as a Virginia EMS Education Coordinator highly desirable. Must obtain Virginia Paramedic reciprocity within 3 months of hire.
Schedule: 9-month appointment. Class schedule flexible to meet the needs of the students and program.
