The West Virginia University Alumni Association is seeking a professional and dedicated employee for the position of Director of Engagement. This position will oversee programs and volunteer initiatives that drive participation across the University enterprise, including involvement with the national Alumni Association, WVU School- and College-based groups, geographic alumni chapters and special interest groups. This position will also serve as a member of the Association senior leadership team.
In order to be successful in this position, the ideal candidate will:
Implement and manage innovative, multi-dimensional, engagement strategies to enhance the breadth and depth of relationship between WVU and approximately 230,000 students, graduates and friends worldwide.
In coordination with the President and CEO and Chief Operating Officer, create a comprehensive engagement continuum, fostering quality alumni participation through each life-cycle.
Use data analytics to entice involvement and align alumni and friends with programs and volunteer service opportunities based on areas of most significant affinity.
Develop, track, report and analyze metrics that quantify the quality of engagement and participation among constituents.
Provide oversight and serve as the primary Association liaison to the Alumni Coordination Group, made up of approximately 40 individuals that perform alumni relations work for the University and do not have a formal reporting relationship with the Association.
Lead the development and implementation of a formal chartering process for all alumni engagement organizations.
Identify, recruit and provide direction to volunteer leaders of alumni engagement organizations, helping them build thriving organizations.
Ensure that all engagement organizations are in compliance with local, state and federal regulations, including, but not limited to, corporate registration, banking, financial reporting, tax determination and filing, insurance, risk management, etc.
Responsible for the development and management of the Association's reunion program.
Create and sustain innovative programs to engage and attract student involvement in Association programming, including oversight of the Gold and Blue Crew Student Alumni Association initiative.
Administer Association's membership program and help to develop creative campaigns to increase interest in and the effectiveness of the membership program.
Oversee the WVU Connect mentoring and networking platform and associated programs.
Work with the Director of Development to oversee the creation, management and growth of various scholarship programs.
Work with Admissions and Recruitment to coordinate programs that utilize alumni to recruit highly talented students to attend WVU.
Work with the Career Services Office to coordinate programs that utilize alumni to mentor students and fellow alumni and to recruit and hire current students and graduates.
Develop and implement project management systems to ensure successful program execution.
Oversee budget that relates to assigned engagement programming.
Bachelor's degree; master's degree preferred
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
Three (3) years of related experience is required
Experience in the following is preferred:
Higher education, government or non-profit environment
Membership or annual fund programs
Valid driver's license
Valid driver's license is required to travel locally, across the state, regionally, nationally and internationally.
