Laboratory Coordinator - School of Dental Medicine, Diagnostic Sciences-(17001685)
The Division of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology is one of four divisions within the Department of Diagnostic Sciences at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine (TUSDM). In addition to operating Tufts Oral Pathology Services (TOPS), an oral pathology biopsy laboratory, the division is responsible for clinical care of patients with mucosal disease, delivering the oral pathology curriculum to pre-doctoral and post-doctoral students, and participating in research activities.
The Laboratory Coordinator will be responsible for overseeing and managing the needs of TOPS. This includes preparing and distributing biopsy kits, receiving and accessioning the biopsy specimens and delivering them to Tufts Medical Center (TMC), collecting processed glass slides, and sending the final pathology reports to the referring providers. The Laboratory Coordinator will collaborate with intradepartmental staff, including the Division Administrative Assistant, Department Practice Manager, and TOPS work-study students. Other key responsibilities for the Laboratory Coordinator include managing the calendar for the division, coordinating travel, and processing appropriate University paperwork.
3+ years laboratory experience with Associates degree OR 1+ years laboratory experience with BA/BS.
Advanced computer skills including MS Word and MS Excel.
Must have experience with patient care software programs.
Ability to lift 25 lbs.
Experience with medical transcription.
Knowledge of CoPath.
1+ years of management/supervisory experience.
Must have the ability to multitask and meet concurrent deadlines.
Should have excellent communication and customer service skills.
Special Work Schedule Requirements: Occasional overtime and/or weekend work is required when needed.
