The West Virginia University Libraries invites applications for a Library Associate for Technology Services. This position is responsible for technology support for users of the Evansdale Library, as well as managing library digitization projects.
In order to be successful in this position, the ideal candidate will:
Troubleshoot computers and computer-related problems.
Assist users with installed software applications, especially in Library's classrooms and One Button Studio
Provide instructional design support, including instructional handouts or other training materials.
Monitor daily operations of Evansdale Library computer workstations and associated equipment.
Work with University Libraries' Systems department and WVU Information Technology Services department.
Coordinate digitization projects .
Serve as a Staff Access Services desk senior staff member
Work Hours: Monday through Thursday 10 a.m. - 6 p.m., Friday 11 a.m. - 7 p.m.
Note: During final exam weeks, will participate in the 24/7 operation of the Libraries as needed. Break weeks and summer months schedule modifications are required to match operational hours of the facility.
Pay Grade: 14
Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and related experience working in a library
At least six (6) months experience using computer workstations, peripherals, and software applications
Library experience is required, including the ability to use and provide assistance for library technology equipment and software
Knowledge of principles and methods for digital applications, including scanning and formatting
Knowledge of current and emerging technology for library services
Demonstrated ability to plan and implement effective projects
Excellent organizational skills with aptitude for complex detailed work
Ability to provide effective individual and group training
Excellent visual, oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills, with demonstrated public/customer service experience
Physical demands include:
Ability for close visual inspection
Ability to access all parts of the library building, including equipment and connections on tabletops, under desks, on walls or ceiling connections
Hand coordination to work with older, fragile papers
May occasionally need to lift or move computer equipment
