Assistant Technical Director - School of Arts and Sciences, Drama and Dance Department-(17001655)
The Department of Drama and Dance offers undergraduate courses, as well as an undergraduate major and minor in Theater. It has an active production program, with 3 faculty directed shows, 4 fully produced student directed shows and many other student shows each year. The department also supports a year-long children's theatre program, the Collins Players as well as a children's summer theatre program: Magic Circle and Creative Arts.
The Assistant Technical Director works in collaboration with the Technical Director to realize the design, construction, and installation of scenery for faculty and student productions. S/he manages and maintains the scene shop and supervises student designed and constructed productions. Supervises/mentors students in proper scenic construction, scene painting, prop construction, as well as in the use of lighting and sound equipment. Ensures smooth running of student productions. S/he also works with the Collins Players and the Magic Circle and Creative Arts Summer programs to realize their productions
Applicants must have a BA in Theater and/or experience in theater construction.
Extensive knowledge of safe use of equipment, supervision of a crew, and strong organizational skills are essential.
Valid driver's license required.
Experience with AutoCAD; Microsoft Word and Excel.
Knowledge of woodworking, flat construction, scenic painting, prop construction, lighting technician skills and operation of sound equipment.
Ability to read and interpret drafting.
Excellent time management, organizational, communication, time management, and customer service skills.
