About the Entrepreneurial Institute: In 2010, starting with the Innovation Venture Fund, NYU launched a series of initiatives to accelerate the pace of entrepreneurship and technology commercialization across the University. In 2012, NYU created the Entrepreneurial Institute to significantly increase its investment in entrepreneurship to create a comprehensive pan-University entrepreneurial ecosystem to support its students, faculty and researchers in their entrepreneurial pursuits. Today, the Institute leads a network of programs, events and resources to inspire, educate, accelerate, fund and connect entrepreneurs within NYU, as well as with the larger NYC startup ecosystem.
About this opportunity: The Entrepreneurial Institute (EI) is hiring a Marketing and Communications Manager to help oversee, execute and manage the marketing and communications strategy and execution for the Institute and EI's entrepreneurship initiatives at NYU. The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated passion for startups and entrepreneurship, outstanding written and verbal communication skills, and significant experience with a variety of media types and vehicles ranging from traditional print and video to online and social media. He or she will understand how to target, cultivate, and engage audiences, using analytics to drive strategic and tactical decisions. S/he will report directly to the Institute’s Assistant Director and will work closely with the Executive Director and other NYU staff to manage communications on behalf of the Institute and the numerous initiatives, programs and events it produces. The incumbent will oversee one full-time staff member in support of this work.
Required Education: Bachelor's degree
Required Experience: 3-5 years' relevant experience in marketing communications and/or online community building, including experience developing strategic marketing plans to align with broader institute goals.
Preferred Experience: The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated passion for startups and entrepreneurship. Editorial and/or public relations work experience a plus.
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Excellent writing and copy editing skills, for a variety of mediums/formats. Outstanding interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills with an ability to effectively and persuasively communicate information in written, verbal and visual formats. Confidence to take the lead and work collaboratively with other teams across NYU and with external vendors, including an ability to interact with individuals at all levels. Great project management skills to meet and manage deliverables in a timely fashion, attention to detail and ability to perform multiple tasks in a fast-paced, high-profile environment. May be required to work some evenings and/or weekends for select Institute initiatives and events.
