Ensures safety of Haymarket Center by making rounds, securing stairwells, facility and outside areas, reporting and incidents no matter how insignificant they may seem at the time. Must have the ability to maintain flexible work hours. Use of telephone and walkie-talkie are necessary.
Patrolling of designated areas and securing staff initials. Completing reports on unusual incidents.
Notify specific departments of visitors' arrival and escorts visitors, and patients to the appropriate destination.
Assures all persons are authorized to be in the building by displaying a visitor badge or employee I.D. badge.
Monitoring and escorting visitors, reporting contraband to supervising personnel.
Inspection of any boxes, bags or other containers being removed from building and reporting any attempt to carry out agency property.
Assisting departing clients upon request.
Escorting female staff to their cars, if reasonable.
Assists in fire drill evacuation of clients, in cooperation with the Fire Safety Director.
Any other duites as assigned by the Security Director.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
Knowledge of security functions; preferably some security training, preferably 20 hours of training.
Ability to learn security procedures of the Chicago Clergy Association.
Ability to recognize appropriate procedure that applies in each situation and follow it. Judgmental in keeping with the rules of confidentiality of client care.
High School graduate or equivalent (GED).
Able to relate to people. Exercises good judgement. Ability to communicate pleasantly and clearly with others.
Knowledge and ability of techniques to control unruly persons and/or clients, while still maintaining proper attitude or an equivalent completion of training and experience.
