This position will have primary responsibilities for academic services and student life for students who study away in New York. Based in the Office Global Programs, and reporting to the Site Director for New York as a study away site, the incumbent will liaise with various units within Global Programs, as well as units in Shanghai and Abu Dhabi, and relevant units in New York as required (e.g. Student Affairs, Housing, schools). The objective is to assure that study away students to New York are well prepared to integrate into the NYU community and subsequently have a successful semester/term. Duties will include logistical and programmatic support for students; creation of pre-departure materials for students studying in New York; implementation of strategic plans to continue to evolve study away in New York; and other duties as assigned.
Required Education: Bachelor's degree
Preferred Education: Masters’ Degree in Higher Education or Public Administration
Required Experience: 2+ years in a comparable position in international education. Experience working with a diverse, international student body.
Preferred Experience: Experience in design and implementation of programs for study away or international students. Personal study abroad experience during college years and experience working with institutions of diverse, multi-national nature desirable.
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Excellent written and oral communication skills. Capacity to work collegially and flexibly in a setting characterized by a complex organizational structure comprising of New York University’s three portal campsues and 11 global sites, as well as exchange agreements with institutions around the world and school-based, special summer and Jterm offerings. Ability to prioritize and to handle multiple projects on tight deadlines, organized work habits, consistent accuracy, and attentiveness to detail. Strong organizational skills. Adequate data management skills.
Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Professional maturity and judgment, including exceptional discretion and a capacity for resourceful initiative in a team context. Ability to adapt to new software and learning management systems. Ability to remain even-tempered and to provide excellent service to various constituents.
