The Disaster Recovery Coordinator supports Carilion's hallmarks of service excellence and quality for all job responsibilities.
The Disaster Recovery Coordinatorresponsible for working directly with Carilion's IT staff on the proactive maintenance of Carilion's technology related disaster recovery processes and procedures.Coordinates periodic testing of the disaster recovery procedures for Carilion's technology systems with operational and support groups within IT.Ensures all disaster recovery related processes and procedures are up to date and accurate, and that all IT staff are familiar with the disaster recovery plan.Serves as the primary coordinator in the event of a disaster, and as a liaison between technical recovery teams and the senior management team.
Works with IT staff on the ongoing maintenance of Carilion's IT disaster recovery plan to ensure that recovery steps are concise and complete.
Facilitates and manages disaster recovery testing on a quarterly basis to ensure the plan is complete and accurate.
Works with IT management to develop new processes and refine existing ones for improved operational effectiveness of the disaster recovery plan.
Works with IT staff to ensure that new IT systems are accounted for in the disaster recovery plan, and associated procedures developed prior to being moved into a production status.
Ensures that all IT operational and support groups are educated and familiar with the disaster recovery plan.
Ensures that all associated documentation in the disaster recovery information system is up to date and accurate.
Works with IT staff and senior management to constantly evaluate the state of IT and declare a disaster when appropriate.
Interfaces with clients and IT management to provide timely updates for disaster recovery related activities.
Documents all associated activities for disaster recovery activities in the IT service management platform.
Adheres to departmental policies and procedures.
Completes and maintains documentation of a minimum of 8 hours of pertinent continuing education each year.
Frequently interacts with IT personnel on infrastructure and application disaster recovery related items.Serves as the primary liaison between the IT recovery teams and senior management staff in the event of a disaster recovery scenario.Performs quarterly review and testing of the IT disaster recovery plan.Manages processes and policies associated with the maintenance and upkeep of the disaster recovery plan, and ensures all IT staff are educated.Primary work environment is within Carilion Clinic's enterprise data center (office environment).Must be conscience of all operational and safety procedures.Rotating shifts, including wearing a pager or irregular long hours as required.This position provides input for the budget process, but has no purchasing authority.
Minimum Qualifications Required
Education: Bachelor's Degree in a related field or equivalent work experience.
Experience: Minimum three years' experience in Information Technology or related field.
Licensure, certification, and/or registration:Additionally, any of the following are also preferred, but not required:
Other Minimum Qualifications: Good organizational skills, analytical, dependable, detail oriented, interpersonal skills, and understanding of the English language (both written and oral).Must have an in-depth understanding of all stages of the IT disaster recovery planning life-cycle including: requirement analysis, design, development, implementation, testing, maintenance, and execution.Must have excellent project management skills, and be customer service oriented.
