The Development Department’s Communications Manager is a story-teller who creates compelling communications pieces that inspire the generosity of current and potential donors. As the Communications Manager, you will collect and archive Children’s Home + Aid stories from donors, clients, and staff, and work collaboratively with the agency’s Communications team to ensure effective and consistent messaging. Well-qualified candidates will be able to work quickly and juggle multiple deadlines to produce print newsletters, e-news, stewardship reports, scripts and speeches that move donors and prospects to get or stay involved. The Communications Manager reports to the Director of Development Operations.
Create newsletters, social media posts, and other communications materials that are both compelling and donor-centered.
Work collaboratively with the agency’s Communications team to develop and implement social media and other electronic communication strategies.
Adopt key role in orchestrating the Luminate Online donor communication system, including developing processes and training staff as applicable.
Develop content for donor communication pieces, including gathering stories from program staff, clients, donors, and volunteers.
Attend community events; prepare and provide support to clients and program staff who volunteer for community speaking engagements.
Monitor the current trends in nonprofit and donor-centered communications and make strategic recommendations.
Exceptional writing skills are critical for this position; a demonstrated ability to compose compelling written material is key.
Bachelor’s degree required.
Two years in marketing or communications preferred.
Experience using Blackbaud’s Luminate Online and Wordpress for website management preferred.
General understanding of fundraising, development and non-profits.
Ability to work with various departments and foster teamwork.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail with consistent follow-through; ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
