West Virginia University Talent and Culture is seeking applications for an Human Resources Partner for Student Life. This position will serve as a key strategic advisor to the senior leadership and management teams of Student Life, developing resources that bring HR solutions that match business needs. The HR Partner will focus on assessing strategic organizational needs, driving change, building high performing teams, and growing leadership capability.
In order to be successful in this position, the ideal candidate will:
Provide professional guidance to managers, supervisors and staff involved with writing a position description for all employee types.
Advise managers and supervisors regarding restructuring efforts withing their units, bringing the potential effect the restructuring could have on current employees.
Assist with interpreting, guiding and applying policies and procedures for staff members and work closely with management personnel to ensure their fair and consistent application.
Act as a mediator between staff and supervisors as needed to prevent potential grievances.
Advise administrators on performance management, discipline, and departmental communications related to HR issues.
Collaborate with Benefits to provide information to employees on an ongoing basis.
Identify development needs of employees through interaction with supervisors and individual employees.
Strengthen the organization through talent planning and assessment, including performance recognition, guiding the hiring process, etc.
Coordinate cross-functional alignment with HR Centers of Expertise, educating CoE leaders to educate them on unit/division needs and brainstorm solutions to current or expected issues.
Design and oversee multiple, concurrent projects working collaboratively with teams in support of business objectives.
Bachelor's degree required; MBA or master's degree in organizational psychology, organizational development, organizational behavior or human resources preferred
At least five (5) years of progressive HR experience
Demonstrated solid business acumen and sound financial literacy
Ability to transition from strategic thinking to sustainable execution
Dynamic facilitation skills and experience in resolving complex problems that affect people, processes and programs
High ethical and professional standards, with strong judgment and ability to handle confidential information with discernment and sensitivity
