The Facilities Management unit of the Division Facilities & Services at West Virginia University is seeking applications for a Campus Service Worker to work the afternoon shift. This position is responsible for providing a variety of supportservices in order to maintain the interior appearance of institutionalbuildings, as well as the surrounding grounds. This work involves adhering toestablished standard procedures, techniques and safety requirements with somejudgment required to interpret instructions.
In order to be successful in this position, the ideal candidatewill:
Clean and maintain interior appearance of allbuildings, including floors, carpets, furniture, walls, bathrooms, kitchens andmore.
Clean and maintain exterior appearance of allbuildings, including removing leaves and debris, cleaning gutters, removingsnow and ice, spreading salt, washing graffiti and more.
Operate various machinery, includingwalk-behind and riding scrubbers, high-speed burnishers, and hand and powertools.
Properly mix and dilute commercial strengthdisinfectants, detergents and solutions, calculating the appropriate amount touse.
Relocate offices and classrooms by lifting andloading/unloading furniture, file cabinets, boxes, etc. using handtrucks,dollies and other equipment.
Assist in set-up and tear-down of equipment forspecial events.
Perform miscellaneous tasks, includingcollecting trash and recycling, replenishing supplies, locking/unlocking doors,assisting other workers and responding to various requests.
Remain current in safety requirements andattend periodic training sessions.
WorkHours: Afternoon Shift
High school diploma, GED or equivalent
Preference will be given to candidates withgreater amounts of directly related experience
Physical coordination and demands:
Long periods of standing, walking, climbing,stooping and bending daily
Moving furniture and unloading supplies daily
Working from ladders and confined spaces asneeded
Lifting items weighing up to 75 pounds asneeded
