Required Qualifications: (As Evidenced by an Attached Resume) Ph.D. in Computer Sciences, Engineering, Neuroscience, Psychology or a related field and/or M.D. degree. Strong scientific writing and communication skills and demonstrated capacity to develop and publish manuscripts. Experience with human and/or nonhuman PET and/or MRI imaging. Preferred Qualifications: Background in neuroscience and imaging. Experience in developing and implementing trials in humans. Brief Description of Duties: A postdoctoral position is available in the Department of Psychiatry, School of Medicine, Stony Brook University. The successful candidate will develop and implement imaging studies involving Positron Emission Tomography (PET). The overall goal of this work, and the lab, is to improve detection and treatment of depression and other mental illnesses. We are an imaging lab, dedicated to understanding the molecular underpinnings of mental illness using multiple approaches. The candidate will be working with PET imaging data acquired from multiple universities, including Stony Brook's simultaneous PET/MR. With guidance, the successful candidate will develop first author publications, present work at national and international conferences and submit proposals for internal and external funding. The successful candidate has to be self-motivated and able to work in a team. The successful candidate will: Develop and implement protocols for PET imaging and intervention studies in humans. Oversee ongoing PET studies. Perform fully quantitative PET analysis and synthesize/interpret results for internal and external presentation. Correspond with the IRB and RDRC for existing and new PET studies. Develop competitive proposals for internal and external funding. Interface with the PI and train new lab members and students in PET image acquisition and analysis. Publish results in peer-reviewed journals including new data and analyses of previously collected data. Present data at internal meetings, national and international conferences.
