Secretary of the Faculty - School of Arts and Sciences and School of Engineering-(17001551)

The Office of the Secretary of the Faculty provides administrative and logistical support to faculty members in the Schools of Arts and Sciences and Engineering. The scope of responsibilities includes stewarding faculty meetings and committees and managing essential information for faculty. In addition, the Secretary of the Faculty ensures open communication among the A&S&E faculty and administration. Along with the Deans of the School of Arts and Sciences and of the School of Engineering, the Secretary of the Faculty is also an officer of the faculty, according to the bylaws; and maintains the bylaws of A&S&E and the associated schools.
Responsibilities include communicating with and enforcing policies and procedures that affect each school, providing guidance on faculty-related issues, managing workflow and communication for the tenure and promotion (T& P) and other committees, providing guidance and administration for faculty governance structure, drafting agendas and managing preparation for faculty meetings. Maintains historical records including the associated bylaws and AS&E Faculty Handbook.
High School diploma.
Excellent organization skills.
Ability to communicate effectively in a demanding environment with conflicting requests.
Ability to work independently and with discretion, tact and diplomacy.
Special Work Schedule Requirements: Some night and weekend commitments, including participation in the administrator-on-call rotation, required.
