TheTufts Institute of the Environment (TIE) is an interdisciplinaryuniversity-wide institute that initiates, supports, facilitates, and connectsenvironmental education, research, and outreach toward a sustainable future.The focus of TIE's support can change over time and may include such areas aswater, climate change, health, environmental aspects of food security, orecology. TIE aims to stimulate systemic change in environmental education inundergraduate, graduate and professional education. TIE's programs are directedby an Associate Director and an Academic Director who along with the Provostdefine university-wide environmental research agendas, identify promisingresearch and funding directions, stimulate multi-investigator proposals andallocate resources to the achievement of specific goals. Through its leadershipand its programs, TIE interacts with related school-based programs of theuniversity with the goal of enhancing collaboration and identifying andexploring promising new directions.
As part of the Tufts - Greentown Labs partnership development, TIE is looking to hire a Program Administrator. The liaison will be responsible for making invaluable professional and research connections between Greentown member companies and affiliates and Tufts faculty and students in the green technology area and for managing the relationship with the clean-tech start-up incubator, Greentown Labs.
Essential duties/responsibilities of the job:
1. Tufts-Greentown Labs direct partnership building
Facilitate community communication by: organizing meetings and events to introduce Greentown's member companies and relevant Tufts' faculty to each other; arranging an annual event on environmental innovation and technology at Tufts University; and, cross-disseminating important information to community members and partners.
Create effective links and collaboration opportunities between the parties by: identifying relevant grants and seed funds; identifying applicable research; mobilizing key individuals; and, advocating for new Tufts - Greentown partnerships.
Identify corporate opportunities for students at Greentown's member companies as internships and postgraduate positions.
Coordinate inter-Tufts operations between TIE and the Office of the Vice Provost for Research as well as with Greentown's leadership team.
Build a database of current environmentally-related research at Tufts and potential commercial partners at Greentown.
Provide administrative support to new collaborations.
2. Global outreach and identification of international opportunities
Work with internal Tufts/Greentown leadership teams to identify, qualify, and initiate partner opportunities and negotiations with relevant international Universities, Accelerators, and Incubators.
Serve as the day-to-day relationship manager that selects international University, Accelerator, and Incubator partnerships, possessing a thorough understanding of partner business objectives to identify synergies and opportunities for collaboration with Tufts and Greentown Labs.
Manage necessary integration/communications to highlight value and to ensure smooth partner hand-off to key internal stakeholders for full activation of partner opportunities.
Organize and host international delegations and recommend plans for action and as appropriate, connect them to Tufts intellectual and physical assets and share the uniqueness of the Tufts - Greentown partnership
Represent Tufts and Greentown in the community at events, with consulate offices, and other international leaders and officials who tour Greentown's labs.
The successful candidate will be a recent graduate (MA/MS/PhD) with a background in the space of clean-tech, entrepreneurship/business, and policy/global affairs.
Excellent communication skills; ability to communicate with a diverse audience including faculty, staff, upper administration and students.
Complete attention to detail.
Ability to work both independently and as a team player ability to maintain positive and service-oriented office culture under high-stress conditions and deadlines, as well as maintain discretion.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
