As the College's primary academic dean under under the Dean for the College of Arts and Science, this individual will take responsibility for the College's entire curriculum; advise and work with faculty to develop academic proposals for new seminars, programs, and minor or major tracks to reflect changing student and Collegiate interests and academic goals. Oversee collaborations between CAS and University leadership to develop special curriculum for cross-school and global initiatives such as Global Public Health, NYU-Abu Dhabi, and NYU-D.C. Advise and work with Assistant Dean to develop curriculum for customized majors to take advantage of global network. Ensure faculty staffing plans are in accordance with student enrollment forecasts and College policy. With the Assistant Dean, lead the design of the School's scheduling processes and course availability to ensure student schedules are optimized, classrooms are efficiently utilized, and the teaching needs of faculty are met.
Required Education: Master's degree in a Liberal Arts subject;
Preferred Education: PhD in Liberal Arts subject strongly preferred;
Required Experience: 8-10 years of relevant experience in academic planning, curriculum development, recruitment, admissions, student affairs, and managing budgets or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Previous staff supervision required. Publication of research in peer-reviewed journals or monographs and undergraduate teaching experience are a plus.
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Superior strategic planning, interpersonal, and communication skills (both written and oral). Proven ability to implement and evaluate programs and counsel students and faculty. Ability to articulate policy to members of the internal and external community; detailed knowledge of academic practices.
