The Department of Ophthalmology at the WVU Research Corporation is seeking applications for a Program Assistant. The purpose of this position is to provide support to various clinical studies, primarily relative to glaucoma and diabetic retinopathy, being conducted within the WVU Eye Institute. The Program Assistant will review patients for eligibility, recruit eligible patients for participation, and execute informed consent and appropriate study procedures. Work effort has considerable impact on client services, program and project image, with potential legal liabilities.
In order to be successful in this position, the ideal candidate will:
Provide program support services with both internal and external clients.
Respond to inquiries and independently resolve matters of low to moderate complexity.
Review the records of the patients scheduled for the following clinic day in the WVU Eye Institute to identify patients meeting the eligibility criteria for clinical research studies in recruitment.
Inform the faculty of those potential patients identified.
Aid in obtaining informed consent from patients agreeing to participate in the study.
Obtain data as is described by the study protocol.
Three (3) years of administrative experience
Activities are predominantly non-manual, though some responsibilities require the occasional lifting of up to 25 lbs.
