Assist the Assistant Vice President & Director of Sustainability in organizing, planning and implementing strategies to support NYU’s 2025 sustainability goals. Assist in managing University-wide sustainability plans, events, content, and various projects in regards to sustainability (i.e. - Green Grants, a program designed to award grants up to $20,000 for innovative sustainability ideas; communications regarding energy efficiency measures that affect building occupants; and university events such as Welcome Week, a very visible opportunity to influence and educate incoming students on sustainability issues). Focus on monitoring and creating meaningful reports in many areas related to sustainability, but not limited to climate/energy, water, waste, transportation, landscaping and social/cultural factors.
Required Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Studies, Sustainability, Humanities or Social Science.
Required Experience: Min 2 years of experience in a large corporate or not-for-profit setting. Two years of experience in the field of sustainability including waste management.
Preferred Experience: Three years of experience in a large, corporate or not-for-profit setting, and three years of experience in the field of sustainability.
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Knowledge of sustainability issues and initiatives. Experience producing presentations and communication materials. Demonstrated ability to gather and analyze information and make strategic recommendations. Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Demonstrated ability to team build to help create a sustainability community. Excellent organizational skills.
