Director of Development leads the fundraising team and develops and implements fundraising plan for the Division of Libraries. The director focuses on approaches to major individual, corporate and foundation prospects for six and seven figure gifts, supervises annual fund lead, and works collaboratively with central fundraising team at NYU to ensure that $5-10 million is raised annually for the library. Projects annual fundraising. Work closely with both University Development and the Libraries's leadership team. Drives collaborative approaches to support the work of the library and the university's research enterprise. Support the Dean of the Libraries' fundraising portfolio and plans, manage prospect pool of 120; directly cultivate, solicit and steward prospects and donors. Raises $5-10 million/year.
Required Education: Bachelor's degree.
Preferred Education: N/A
Required Experience: 5 years' professional level experience with fundraising and managing a portfolio of prospects. Must include experience directly soliciting six figure gifts, staff supervision, and projecting fundraising totals.
Preferred Experience: Experience fundraising in a university setting, library, or cultural institution.
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated ability to meet fundraising goals and effectively interact with donor prospects. Ability to take initiative and collaborate with others. Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, database and desktop publishing software applications.
Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Knowledge of MS Office Suite.
