NYU's Institute for the Study of Decision Making(ISDM) is seeking a Senior System Architect/Engineer. This individual will work closely with the Senior Security Specialist, on ISDM’s flagship research project, The HUMAN Project, to build and run the data center where the study will collect and analyze big, complex, and sensitive data on New York City residents. The Data Center houses Windows and Linux machines and HPC clusters, and is segmented into three security zones, the highest being a NIST Level 3 zone. The System Architect/Engineer will be a proactive leader, keeping abreast of the latest technologies and identifying opportunities to leverage them to improve the data center’s security posture and ensure that the project upholds its promise to maintain privacy and confidentiality of all study participants’ data.
Required Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related discipline and 5+ years of relevant experience in the tech industry, or a Master’s degree with 3 years of relevant experience
Required Experience: 3+ years of experience running a high security data center, preferably experienced with HIPAA and/or FISMA compliance.
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Expert shell, Perl 10 and Python scripting skills to create new, redesign, and modify existing scripts to support and improve data feeds, reporting, batch jobs, and overall system performance. Web/App Servers: Apache, Tomcat, NGINX Operating Systems: Linux Debian/Redhat/Ubuntu/Suse, Windows, MacOS VMWare management and support of server farms running in virtualization environments SSL Security certificate management for enterprise, maintaining certificates across multiple ssl providers, and integrating certificates into products such as nginx, apache, tomcat, AWS-ELB preferred but not required Management of enterprise puppet environments. Maintaining test and production catalogues and writing reusable modules for use in configuration management. Management of enterprise Windows network. Support of domain controllers and internal LAN. Configuration and management of Windows Active Directory Ability to understand complex issues and information relating to data storage and encryption and implement encryption technologies
