Serve as Collection Specialist and project manager for the Hemispheric Institute of Performance and Politics’ Digital Video Library, a collaboration with NYU Libraries and the first major digital archive of performance practices in the Americas. Ensure the effective collection acquisition, intake, and materials processing in concert with NYU Libraries archivists and digital conservation specialists. Create, edit, curate, and organize written, visual, and scholarly content for the trilingual Artist Profiles that facilitate research efforts and enhance the general public’s viewing experience. Serve as liaison with NYU Libraries staff as appropriate to resolve issues. Supervise project teams, project assistants, and interns in both New York and across the Americas for local and international events hosted by the Hemispheric Institute.
Requirements: Master's degree in Performance Studies or a related field. 3+ years’ experience managing complex projects in an arts, university, or library setting, including experience working directly with artists and artist archives, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Written and oral fluency in either Spanish or Portuguese, including the ability to translate documents from or to English as appropriate. Excellent communication and analytical writing skills. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, including the ability to manage projects concurrently. Proficiency in standard office productivity and content management software.
Preferred: Doctoral-level training in Performance Studies or related field. 1+ years’ experience creating and managing metadata for libraries, museums, or other scholarly use. Experience in online content creation using content management systems (e.g., WordPress, Joomla!, Drupal). Working knowledge of the field of Latin American or Latina/o theatre and performance. Working knowledge of video preservation methods and formats. Demonstrated ability to lead teams to accomplish archive-related projects. Reading comprehension of a third language (either Spanish or Portuguese).
