Supports all Department of Public Safety (DPS) training needs including design and facilitation of training programs. Maintains training manuals, materials, records and training aids. Coordinates and updates training schedules and programs and assists the Training Manager with evaluating program successes and identifying areas of improvement. Tracks licensing of Department of Public Safety personnel and communicates training needs to the Training Manager to ensure licensing requirements are met. Communicates with the Training Manager and the Director, Professional Standards compliance needs in connection with licenses and training. Tracks and monitors the Fire Life and Safety Director Training program from enrollment through certification, and monitors the re-certification status of Department of Public Safety personnel to meet those requirements. Coordinates the administrative needs of the American Red Cross First Aid/CPR/AED course and the DPS Security Officer Training Program.
Required Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Education: Bachelor’s degree in in Criminal Justice, Security Administration or Public Administration.
Required Experience: 3-5 years of administrative assistant experience to include managing and maintaining records and scheduling.
Preferred Experience: Experience creating and facilitating training.
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Proven clerical and technical capacity to include multiple platforms. Ability to communicate across levels of staff. Excellent writing, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Knowledge and experience with Campus Security in a Higher Education setting. An understanding of New York State Security Guard licensing requirements and the FDNY FLSD program and regulatory requirements.
