Summary Description: Columbia UniversityCollege of Physicians and SurgeonsDepartment of PsychiatryFull-Time Psychiatrist in Women's Mental HealthThe Women's Program in the Department of Psychiatry is a seeking psychiatrist with interest and expertise in the assessment and treatment of psychiatric issues in women across the female reproductive life cycle. This is a full-time, one-year clinical position that will provide training and supervision in the field of perinatal psychiatry and women's mental health, with exposure to a broad range of psychiatric and medical diagnoses and patient demographics. This position will also provide the opportunity and mentorship for scholarly pursuit. 1.The psychiatrist will conduct psychiatric evaluations and treatment of women hospitalized on the Obstetric and Gynecologic service in a consultation ? liaison capacity. 2.The psychiatrist will conduct outpatient psychiatric evaluations at the Columbia University Medical Center, including both clinic and private settings. 3.The psychiatrist will provide psychopharmacologic management to women at different phases of the life cycle, including pregnancy and lactation. 4.The psychiatrist will provide short-term group and individual psychotherapy. 5.The psychiatrist will work closely with a treatment team, including psychologists and social workers to provide comprehensive psychiatric care to high-need psychiatrically ill women. 6.The psychiatrist will engage in a scholarly project under the mentorship of the Women's Program faculty. 7.The psychiatrist will attend didactic lectures by faculty on topics in Women's Mental Health8.The psychiatrist will participate in clinical rounds and teaching of students, interns and residents. Minimum Educational Requirements: M.D. or D.O. from an accredited medical or osteopathy school. Completion of residency training in psychiatry. ABPN Board EligibleNYS license required. Experience and Qualifications: Demonstrated interest and experience in the field of Women's Mental Health.Strong leadership potential.Demonstrated interest in academic as well as clinical psychiatry.Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work well in a team setting.Familiarity with high-risk patients and community settings.
